Stainless steel threaded ball valve

Standard two-piece build with female taper threads — the plumbing ball valve of our line. Screws straight onto the pipe with hand tools, unscrews for service, and the stainless body takes hot and cold water alike. PT ends ex stock, 1/4″ to 2″, 1000 WOG, CF8 or CF8M.

Product overview

Screws into the line, unscrews out of it.

V-2C is the standard two-piece threaded ball valve — a seal-welded body in CF8 (cast 304) or CF8M (cast 316), PTFE seats, and female taper threads at both ends. Body and cap are welded rather than bolted, so the joint between them is not a place the line can start to weep.

It covers eight sizes: 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ and 2″. Ends are Rc taper female — the same form as PT — and that is the build we hold in stock. NPT and PF are made to order. End-to-end length runs from 51 mm on the 1/4″ up to 115 mm on the 2″, so the valve drops into an existing run without the extra length a flanged valve needs.

Threaded ends also mean the valve comes back out: unscrew it for inspection or replacement, no cutting and no re-welding. If you need the same valve in a heavier wall, or in sizes above 2″, see our two-piece ball valve — the V-2B build carries a heavier wall and runs to 4″. For a line that stays open for long stretches and is only shut for service, we also make a threaded gate valve with a rising stem.

The plumbing ball valve, in stainless instead of brass Most plumbing ball valves are brass. This one does the same job in cast stainless: it screws onto building water supply lines with ordinary hand tools, shuts off a water line in a quarter turn, and comes back out for service without cutting pipe. The difference is the material — stainless has no zinc to leach and shrugs off water that eats brass, and one valve covers hot and cold water lines across −20 to 80 °C as standard — for higher temperatures, ask us about a made-to-order build. For plumbing contractors standardising on stainless, this is the valve the rest of our range is built around.

FAQ
What is a threaded ball valve?

A threaded ball valve has female pipe threads cut into both ends, so the pipe screws straight into the valve — no welding, no flange hardware. It is the usual choice for lines 2″ and under, and it can be unscrewed later for inspection or replacement without cutting the pipe.

Which thread forms are available?

PT is the stock build — Rc taper female, cut into both ends. NPT and PF are made to order, so tell us which standard your line uses when you send the inquiry.

What sizes does the V-2C cover?

Eight sizes: 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ and 2″. End-to-end length runs from 51 mm on the 1/4″ to 115 mm on the 2″. Above 2″, the heavier-wall V-2B build runs to 4″.

What is the difference between V-2C and V-2B?

V-2C is the standard build and stops at 2″. V-2B carries a heavier wall and runs to 4″. Both are two-piece, seal-welded, 1000 WOG with PTFE seats.

Should I pick CF8 (304) or CF8M (316)?

CF8 covers most water and general industrial service. Pick CF8M when the media carries chlorides — brine, coastal water, many process chemicals — because the molybdenum in 316 resists chloride pitting. Both grades are stock.

Brass or stainless steel for plumbing?

Brass is the plumbing default and it works fine on most city water. Stainless steel is the step up when the water is aggressive — high chlorides, softened or acidic water — or when you simply do not want zinc in the flow path. It also means one valve spec for hot, cold and outdoor lines. The price gap is smaller than most people expect at these sizes.
