Male x female ball valve
One male end, one female end — the valve screws onto the equipment without a nipple in front of it. Two-piece SS304 body, PTFE seats, 1/2″ to 2″, 1000 WOG.
One end screws into the equipment. The other takes the pipe.
The V-2D-MF is a two-piece ball valve with one male end and one female end. The male end threads straight into a tank boss, a pump port or a machine connection. The female end takes the pipe, a hose tail or the next fitting. Between them sits the valve — and not the nipple you would otherwise need, nor the threaded joint that nipple brings with it. A joint you never make is a joint that cannot weep.
It is a full port ball valve — the bore through the ball matches the pipe size, so the valve does not pinch the line the way a reduced-port valve does. Six sizes are built: 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ and 2″. Every A–G dimension for all six is on the dimension sheet at the top of this page.
Body, ball and stem are SS304, and that is the build we hold in stock. SS316 is made to order — worth the change when the line carries chlorides, brine or seawater, since the molybdenum in 316 is what resists pitting. Seats and seals are PTFE, which sets the working range at −20°C to 180°C, and the pressure rating is 1000 WOG.
Threads are PT (Rc taper) from stock; NPT is made to order. If both ends of your run are pipe rather than equipment, the female-to-female V-2C threaded ball valve is the simpler fit.

What does male x female (M×F) mean on a ball valve?
One end is cut with an external (male) thread, the other with an internal (female) thread. The male end screws into a female port on the equipment; the female end receives the pipe or an adapter. A standard valve is female at both ends and needs a nipple to do the same job.
Is this a full port ball valve?
Yes. The bore through the ball matches the pipe size, so there is no step down at the valve and none of the extra pressure drop a reduced bore brings. All six sizes are built full port.
When would I choose M×F over a female x female valve?
When the valve mounts on something rather than in a pipe run — a tank boss, a pump casing, a machine port, a hose take-off. The male end goes straight in, so one nipple and one threaded joint come out of the assembly and the take-off sits shorter. If both sides are pipe, female x female is the simpler choice.
Which thread standards can I get?
PT (Rc taper) is the stock build; NPT is made to order. Tell us which standard your line uses when you send sizes.
What sizes does the V-2D-MF cover?
Six: 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″ and 2″. The dimension sheet lists A through G for every size in millimetres.
Can I get it in SS316?
Yes, to order. SS304 is the stock build. SS316 is the one to specify where the line sees chlorides, brine or seawater — the molybdenum in 316 is what resists pitting.
