Threaded Pipe Tee, Female PT on All Three Outlets
A threaded pipe tee with female PT taper threads on all three outlets, for branching or combining flow in a threaded pipe run. Equal tee, shell mold cast in 202, 304 or 316 stainless steel, 1/8″ to 4″, Class 150. Reducing tees on request.
The branch point in a threaded line.
A stainless steel pipe tee lets a threaded pipe run branch off or join back together. This is the standard threaded pipe tee: a female PT thread on all three outlets, the same size on each, so it takes three male pipe ends and splits one line into two or brings two into one. It is an equal tee. Where the branch has to step down to a smaller pipe, a reducing tee is made to order; tell us the three sizes with the inquiry.
Ours is shell mold cast in our own plant in Taiwan in 202, 304 or 316 stainless steel and machined after casting. Sizes run 1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2″, 2-1/2″, 3″ and 4″, with the same size on all three outlets. The threads are PT taper threads. PT is the Japanese designation for the 55° taper thread that BSPT, R and Rc also describe; it seals on the thread with tape or sealant. It is not the same as NPT, which is a 60° thread and should not be mated with it even where the nominal sizes look alike. If your line is NPT, tell us with the inquiry; NPT is made to order.
The pressure class is 150. On stainless threaded fittings that number is a class designation, not a limit of 150 psi; the working pressure depends on temperature and is set by the fitting standard the class belongs to. For water, air and general fluid lines at ordinary temperatures it carries more than the pipe around it.
One thing worth knowing before you lay out a header with tees: flow does not split evenly on its own. Each branch takes what the resistance downstream of it allows, and the branch outlet at right angles to the run loses more pressure than the straight-through path. A tee gives you the connection; the balance comes from how the branches are sized and valved.
Choose 304 for water, air and general service, 316 where chlorides are present, and keep the run in one grade. It matches our threaded full coupling, stainless steel hex pipe nipple, 90 degree elbow, 45 degree elbow, street elbow, pipe cap, pipe cross and pipe union, so one take-off list covers the whole threaded line.

Where it gets used
Every fitting checked for size and thread.
Each fitting is checked for dimensions and thread before shipment.
What is the difference between an equal tee and a reducing tee?
An equal tee has the same size on all three outlets and is used where the branch carries the same pipe as the run. A reducing tee has a smaller branch, for feeding a smaller line or a piece of equipment without a separate reducer. This page is the equal tee; reducing tees are made to order.
Why does the flow not split evenly through a tee?
Each branch takes what the resistance downstream allows, and the side outlet loses more pressure than the straight path. If both branches must carry the same flow, size and valve them for it; the tee itself does not balance the split.
When do I use a threaded tee rather than a socket-weld or butt-weld tee?
Threaded tees suit smaller threaded lines that are assembled with hand tools and may be taken apart later. Socket-weld and butt-weld tees are for welded lines where the joints are permanent. Match the tee to how the rest of the line is joined.
What thread is it?
Female PT taper thread on all three outlets. PT is the same 55° taper thread as BSPT and Rc. If your line is NPT, tell us with the inquiry; NPT is made to order.
Should I choose 304 or 316?
304 for water, air and general service. 316 where chlorides are present: brine, coastal sites, washdown, most chemicals. Keep the whole threaded run in one grade.
What sizes can I order?
1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2″, 2-1/2″, 3″ and 4″, the same size on all three outlets. Mixed sizes in one order are fine.
