90 Degree Street Elbow, Male × Female PT Thread
A 90° elbow with a male PT thread on one end and a female PT thread on the other, so it screws straight into a valve or equipment port without a nipple. 202, 304 or 316 stainless steel, 1/8″ to 4″, Class 150.
Product overview
A stainless steel street elbow is a male female elbow: a 90° turn with an external thread on one end and an internal thread on the other. The male end screws straight into a female port, a valve, a gauge tapping, a pump or vessel connection, and the female end takes the pipe. A regular elbow has two female ends and needs a nipple to reach the same port, so the street elbow replaces two parts with one, removes one threaded joint, and sits closer to the equipment. That is why it turns up wherever a line has to turn a corner right at a port.
Ours is shell mold cast in our own plant in Taiwan in 202, 304 or 316 stainless steel and machined after casting. Sizes run 1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2″, 2-1/2″, 3″ and 4″, with the same size on both ends. The threads are PT taper threads. PT is the Japanese designation for the 55° taper thread that BSPT, R and Rc also describe; it seals on the thread with tape or sealant. It is not the same as NPT, which is a 60° thread and should not be mated with it even where the nominal sizes look alike. If your line is NPT, tell us with the inquiry; NPT is made to order.
The pressure class is 150. On stainless threaded fittings that number is a class designation, not a limit of 150 psi; the working pressure depends on temperature and is set by the fitting standard the class belongs to. For water, air and general fluid lines at ordinary temperatures it carries more than the pipe around it.
One thing to plan for: because the male end seats where the thread stops, you cannot back a threaded street elbow off half a turn to point it the way you want the way you can with a nipple and a female elbow. Set the orientation as you make it up, and check your local code before using one on fuel gas piping. Choose 304 for water, air and general service, 316 where chlorides are present, and keep the run in one grade. It matches our threaded 45 degree elbow, stainless steel hex pipe nipple, pipe cap, pipe cross and pipe union, so one take-off list covers the whole threaded line.

What is a street elbow?
A 90° elbow with a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other. The male end screws into a port or fitting and the female end takes the pipe, so it does the job of an elbow and a nipple in one piece.
How is a street elbow different from a regular elbow?
A regular elbow is female on both ends and needs a nipple to reach a female port. A street elbow reaches it directly: one part instead of two, one joint fewer, and the turn sits right at the port. The trade-off is that you set its orientation as you tighten it.
What thread is it?
PT taper thread: male on one end, female on the other. PT is the same 55° taper thread as BSPT and Rc. If your line is NPT, tell us with the inquiry; NPT is made to order.
Should I choose 304 or 316?
304 for water, air and general service. 316 where chlorides are present: brine, coastal sites, washdown, most chemicals. Keep the whole threaded run in one grade.
What sizes can I order?
1/8″, 1/4″, 3/8″, 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1-1/4″, 1-1/2″, 2″, 2-1/2″, 3″ and 4″, the same size on both ends. Mixed sizes in one order are fine.
Do you make the matching fittings?
Yes. 45° elbows, hex nipples, caps, crosses, unions, couplings and the rest of the threaded stainless range in the same grades and sizes. Send one take-off list and we quote it as one.
